Following on from recent CD releases – a 3-CD set of solo piano music by Christian Wolff (sub rosa) and a double CD portrait of Laurence Crane‘s chamber music with Apartment House – Philip has two more releases this Autumn. ‘Christopher Fox: Works for piano’ is released on HatHut in October, featuring four solo piano pieces from the past ten years, three of which were composed for Philip. A double CD of works by Morton Feldman for multiple pianos, some with ensemble (including postgraduates Mira Benjamin, Taneli Clarke, Rodrigo Constanzo, Linda Jankoswka and Seth Woods), with pianists John Tilbury, Mark Knoop and Catherine Laws, is released on another timbre in November. The recording will be launched at a concert featuring the works for two to four pianos in the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
Also in hcmf// this year, Philip gives the world premiere performances of three new works composed for him, by Howard Skempton, Christian Wolff (in his 80th year) and Michael Finnissy (an extended work with the title ‘Beat Generation Ballads’).
